Red Red Passion

Oh so RED... I've been working on a this Red quilt the last few weeks and the top is finally finished. My inspiration was the cheap cotton floor rug I brought from the reject shop for $8. Why can't you use all your favourite colours together - red, pink, orange and purple. Somehow I like the effect. The quilt is now ready to be quilted and I'm actually excited as I think this will come up very nice with some simple cotton straight lines.
I've photographed the quilt upside down so you can see the top panel.

Red, White and Blue

I can't believe that I've finally used this fabric.
I purchased the middle panel, red linen strip and 2 other smaller panels from Prince Charming over 2 years ago.

I've been scratching my head and rethinking a lot of ideas as I didn't won't to ruin the lovely panels. In the end I just went for it. The top strip has just a white on white fabric and I'm going to stitch circles or maybe hearts when I quilt. The a simple red binding. I'm also thinking about doing another heart image or something in the white panel bits. In my stash of braids I found a few matching items and ric rac of course for interest. I'm so pleased I've finally put the fabric to use and can't wait to get it quilted. Just need some more time to play.

A Little Bit Vintage

I love vintage linen especially those big bright prints. I've been search the local op shops and ebay for some unusual finds. I enjoy cut them up and hand stitched around to emphasis the pattern. This one is going to come up gorgeous. I'm thinking of using some bright green thread in the orange section. I'm already hand sticking the middle with red cotton.

This fabric is a beautiful cotton linen and I have stitched around the leaves and added scrap bits of lace and braid to add some texture. I'm ready to sew the back on this cushion.

I've also made another one that has slightly different leaves.

Heres the finished cushion

A little bit Retro

I've gone cushion made this one from left over fabric after making a bag. So cute. The back has red and white spots.

Bags, Bags and More Bags

I can't believe its been so long since I updated my blog. I've only just found the login which was written in a now disgarded note book. Well as part of my new years craft resolution I'm going to blog more often starting with my latest bags.
For 2011I'm going to focus on some funky things made from felt and crochet dollies. Yes I know .. strange contrast but what a challenge! Here are some of the lovely bags I made in 2010.

Stay tuned for my next installment.

Coco The Show Do

I entered our Coco into the mongrel dog competition at the Bellingen Show this weekend. She just loved all those dogs and everyone patting her. It was hard work but fun.

Coco won first prize in the Best Cared for category. Here she is with her gold star around her neck looking very proud of herself.

My Latest Quilting Projects

This is my batik project I only have a few more to make before I start sewing the rows together. It's going to be so bright with purple as the dominate colour.

I've made 2 of these with the side panels in reverse for my nieces Jemma and Tammara. They just love them.

This is my latest creation. I've just got to add the final border then I'll start quilting. It so great not to use any pink which I always seem to add it to everything I create.

Out and About

View of the Guy Fawkes valley.

We went on a 4WD tag-along tour this weekend and experience some of New Englands secluded wilderness. It was great spending a day in the bush. We started out driving through Guy Fawkes NP, Chaelundi NP and Mount Hyland Nature Reserve.
